The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame has reduced its voting group from 172 to 154 members and is also making changes to its nominating and election process.

Hall of Fame trainer King Leatherbury, known as "King of the Claimers," died Tuesday. He was 92.

Sovereignty won Horse of the Year at the Eclipse Awards on Thursday night, as well as 3-year-old male honors, and Bill Mott, who guided the colt to victories in the Kentucky Derby and Belmont, was named trainer of the year.

Gregg McCarron, who won over 2,400 races in a 24-year riding career and who steered his younger brother Chris to a Hall of Fame career as a jockey, has died. He was 77.
